How Palo Alto Commons is responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updated March 23, 2020:  At Palo Alto Commons & The Avant, we are committed to providing the best quality of life to those under our care. That commitment means taking the health of our residents, their family members and our employees very seriously. As with others in our industry, we are heavily focusing on prevention and management of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Since the first reports of the virus, we have been proactively monitoring the constantly changing situation and working to ensure that we are prepared.

We are acting with an abundance of caution, reinforcing our policies and procedures as we would in any situation of illness or emergency and providing extensive resources and training to our staff.  A few of our precautions include signage posted throughout our communities reminding everyone of simple steps (such as hand hygiene) that can be taken to limit the spread of illness and disinfecting all surfaces and frequently touched objects throughout the day. We are also restricting non-essential visitors to the community over the next several weeks in conjunction with local and state guidelines regarding long-term care and senior facilities. We will strive to make reasonable accommodations for those in truly end-of-life situations. Our communities are following all recommendations and guidelines from the senior living industry, http://caassistedliving.org/provider-resources/coronavirus/ and https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/healthcare-facilities/index.html

Ensuring the health and well-being of our residents is and has always been our biggest priority. Should you have any questions, please contact our executive director. We appreciate your support and understanding as we navigate this developing situation.
